The Boys and Girls Club will be CLOSED on Monday, May 28th and Monday, June 4th - Friday, June 8th. Club will re-open for summer hours beginning on Monday, June 11th.

MEETING CHANGE: Any rising 8th grade girl interested in trying out for volleyball next year should come to a meeting Thursday, May 24th from 3:30-4:00 in the middle school gym. There will be a open gym Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00.

The 2nd Annual Madison Arts Festival will be held in the high school gym this Saturday, May 19th from 10am to 2pm.  Check out artwork by your friends, classmates, and from students in all grades (from kindergarten all the way up to seniors).  There will also be face painting, sidewalk chalk, arts & craft activities for all ages, and a craft sale.  Come out and support the arts in Madison!

Madison Basketball and Athletic Booster's is hosting a Youth Basketball Camp on June 12th - 14th from 9 - 12 in the Wetsel Middle School Gym. Cost is $50.00.

Madison County Parks & Rec is hosting Youth Wrestling Camp on June 19th - 21st from 9 - 12 in the Wrestling Room. Cost is $40.00.

Madison County Youth Cheerleading Summer Camp will be held on July 9th - 13th from 12:30 - 4:00 in the Wetsel Middle School Cafeteria. Cost is $40.00.

Fitness is coming to Wetsel Middle School. The Fitness Club will start on February 28th on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:15-4:00 in the cafeteria. DUE TO POSSIBLE INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE VCFL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH, AT CHARLOTTESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO FEBRUARY 18TH. The Cultural Studies class at the High School is hosting a clothing drive until February 10th. Please donate gently used clothes (For example – jeans, hoodies, shirts, shorts, etc.) The winning homeroom of each grade level will receive an ice cream party. All donations will be made to our local MESA.

Madison County Parks and Rec softball registration is going on now. Every Tuesday in February from 6 to 8 p.m. parents can register players at McDonalds. Cost is $45 (after February 29th cost will be $50). The draft will take place on March 10th. If you have any questions contact the Madison County Parks and Rec Office at 948-6887.

The Yearbook Club will be hosting the Valentine's Dance Friday, February 10, 2012 from 3:15 until 5:15.  Ticket cost will be $5. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to accept money past this deadline.

here will be an Informational Meeting on Friday, January 20^th for any boys interested in playing Boy’s Soccer this year in the Wetsel cafeteria right after school.

6^th and 7^th Grade US History, 8^th Grade Civics and Science SOL Testing Notification: On February 15^th our 6^th and 7^th grade student will take their US History SOL Test. On February 16^th our 8^th grade students will take their Civics and Science SOL Test. It is important that all students who are to test on either day, be present.  This will ensure they can test with their peers and move on to their next class on the following day. Please take note of the fact that we will do our best to administer any necessary make up tests as quickly as we can since the testing window closes on the 24th.

James Madison University is hosting Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference that is a free one-day conference aimed at girls in grades 7th-10th . The girls will each participate in exciting, hands-on workshops organized by JMU mathematics and statistics faculty and attend a keynote speech by a prominent woman scientist. The goals of the conference are to stimulate the participants' interest in math and science through these hands-on activities, to provide them with female scientist role models, and to foster awareness of opportunities in math and science-related careers.

All participants will receive a free breakfast and lunch, and students receive a free t-shirt for participating.

The 2012 EYH Conference will be on March 24, 2012 at James Madison University.  If you are interested in attending the conference sign up in the main office.

Soles4Souls Shoe Drive!

We are sponsoring a shoe drive at our school, and throughout the county! Please send your new or gently worn shoes to school and drop them off in the large collection box at the front office during school hours. We will be collecting these shoes from November 28^th to December 13th. If it is more convenient, you may drop off your shoes in the collection box at the following locations:

Madison County Hockey League is hosting a FREE skate party tonight (Friday, October 21st) at 6:30 p.m. located at the American Legion Hall skate ring. Just bring your hockey stick and enjoy a fun evening of games.

Blue Ridge Governors School and William Wetsel Middle School will hold an informational meeting for all interested 8th grade parents and students at WMS on Monday, October 24^th at 6:30 p.m.

William Wetsel Middle School would like to have an in-school field trip with Michael “Reptile Man” Shwedick, from Bowie, Maryland! The Reptile World program is designed to give students the opportunity to meet an interesting selection of live, large, colorful, and gentle reptiles from all over the world. The cost for each student is $2.00. The payment must be received by October 14^th.

Madison County Youth Sports Cheerleading for the Basketball Season signups are October 1^st thru November 4^th. The season will start November with games starting in December. Youth Sports Cheerleading is open to youth ages 4-13. Cost is $45.00. Contact the Madison Parks and Rec at 540-948-6887 to sign up.

If you are interested in participating with Youth Wrestling contact Madison County Parks and Rec. Youth Wrestling is open to grades K to 7. Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursday from 6:15 until 7:30 at the wrestling field house. Season starts November 15^th through March 8^th. Cost is $40.00.

See You at the Pole - This is the 21st anniversary for "See You at the Pole", a student initiated and student led movement. This year's event will take place on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:15 a.m. in front of the High School.

Coupons for Soldiers - WMS will be collecting coupons for soldiers throughout the year.  Drop off your expired coupons in the box in the main office. We ask that you only drop off coupons that are no more than 2 months past the expiration date.  This gives the coupons enough time to be sent overseas and enough time for the soldiers to use them.  Thanks for your help! MADISON SOFTBALL MEETING - Wednesday, August 31, 2011 - Wetsel Middle School Cafeteria @ 7:00 p.m. This is for students in 8^th thru 12^th grades and attends either Madison Middle or High School. This meeting is for any student in Madison Middle or High Schools that are interested in playing in a fall league for high school softball teams only.  Games will be played on Saturdays only in Luray and beginning September 10^th thru October 29^th.
